Revlon Spring 2010 Collection: Coral Reef Super Lustrous Lipgloss, perfect for my coral kick!

Wow, love this! Coral Reef is super creamy, pigmented, non-sticky, and would look excellent with a tan. I'm currently an NC35 and will be using this on my pigmented lips and on top of MAC Vegas Volt l/s during the summer months when I get a little more color. On my pigmented lips, this looks just like the model's lips on the MAC To The Beach promo ad, a bright coral-peach and just a touch of orange without being garish.

The second picture is pretty accurate color-wise.
The first picture is on my bare, slightly rosy and pigmented lips. It's a *tad* brighter and corally-orange in real life.



I love corals like these because they really bring a glow and brightness to the rest of my face. For now, layering this on top of a nude lipstick base brings out the peachier side of this coral, reminding me of MAC Shy Girl. Since I'm a little I've been on a huge coral kick lately, so I knew I had to get this. I found it at Target, but there was no separate display for the collection like I had seen in Ulta. It was placed next to the rest of the Super Lustrous lipglosses and I managed to get the last one. Love the sleek packaging and doe-foot applicator. Plus, no funky smell or taste!



I want everything from this collection, the shades are all gorgeous pastels. I think I read somewhere (maybe Allure) that Gucci Westman helped create the shades in this line. Really looking forward to trying the nail polishes as well as the SL lipglosses in Lilac Pastelle and Pink Pop. Coral Reef is a beautiful pop of color, perfect for the warmer weather. Get it before it's gone, from the stores I've been to, I've been noticing that a lot of the shades have been selling out quick.

I also picked up Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Soft Nude. I like it, it's very creamy, but it's a bit more glossy than I'm used to. The packaging and imprint reminds me of a cheap version of Chanel, lol. Here it is to the left swatched next to Smooth Nude from the Colorstay collection and Nude Attitude from the Matte collection. It's a bit more pinky-beige toned than the other two.

MAC Blooming Lovely l/s review

Today I'll be reviewing Blooming Lovely lipstick from the MAC Spring 2010 Give Me Liberty of London collection. I took one look at Blooming Lovely (bright lilac) and thought it was SO pretty ,but I'd never be able to pull it off. Plus, I'm too much of a scaredy cat to try bold colors. But I had an MA try it on me and it looked BEAUTIFUL! I had two MAs and two customers crowded around me telling me it looked amazing, so of course, I had to get it!



I find this a really unique color. It's a creamy bright lilac, slightly blue-toned but not as much as Snob, which didn't work out well against my yellow/olive undertones. It's like the lilac sister to Saint Germain, but slightly darker. I think this particular shade will be very love/hate. The amplified formula was very smooth and did not flake on my lips. It was actually very moisturizing. The color was extremely pigmented and showed up true to color even on my bright red pigmented lips. I only had to do one swipe on my lower lip and press them together to get its true color. Another added plus is that I can see this lasting for a long time since a little goes a long way.

It's not something I could wear all the time, but is perfect for when I'm feeling a little bold :) The MA told me they always sell out of purples like these. I agree with her, I think this one will get a ton of hype.

MAC Give Me Liberty of London pre-launch pics!

Hey everyone!

I had so much fun at the pre-launch last night. I posted pictures up on the MUA boards last night but I was way too tired to make a new post on here as well. The event took place at the Armitage PRO store in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago.



As soon as I stepped into the store, there were shirtless waiters walking around with delicious raspberry and lemon cocktails, fish and chips, and other yummy snacks! There were two models at the front of the store dressed up like the Liberty of London promo ads. The female model looked spot on!



There were three displays and the place was PACKED. Everyone was hoarding around the new collection displays so it was hard to take a good number of pics but overall, I thought the pre-party was excellent. It was the first collection in awhile that got me excited over a new launch. The packaging was also great quality, none of those annoying decals.

Some standouts:

-Dirty Plum blush
-Blue India nail lacquer
-Birds N Berries, Bough Grey, Dame's Desire eyeshadows
-The bright coral lipglass
-Petals and Peacocks, Blooming Lovely l/s


I didn't think the lighting in the store would translate terribly in the pictures but it did. I figured the bright lights would be a good thing, but they actually ended up turning the pictures yellow or much darker than they were. The eyeshadow swatches are more accurate in the picture without flash. Also, the Peachstock lipstick swatch (2nd from left swatch) is NOT orange in real life! Oh well, I tried!












I was pretty set on getting Ever Hip after reading the description online, but it was too similar to Shy Girl for me. Blooming Lovely was definitely my favorite out of my purchases! Plus, I LOVE amplified formulas. This l/s was very smooth and did not flake on my lips, it was moisturizing instead. The color was extremely pigmented and showed up true to color even on my bright red pigmented lips.

I believe the collection launches next Thursday, March 11. I'm really thinking about picking up the hot fushia lipstick! I'm still trying to get out of my comfort zone, but I was eyeing that shade like crazy at the store and it looked absolutely beautiful on both the light-skinned MA who had it on and a dark-skinned customer who was trying it on.

I'd say, try the bright lipsticks on, you might be just as surprised as I was!

MAC Give Me Liberty of London pre-launch tomorrow!

Wow, I haven't posted in ages! I've been hauling like crazy, but haven't had the time to find a camera and post pictures. I'm so lazy :( I don't know how you guys do it. Maybe I'm just doing it all wrong, but it seriously takes me forever to make a new post! I've also been super busy with school, but I just wanted to quickly share with you all how excited I am for tomorrow night.

Earlier in February, I received an invitation in the mail to the Liberty of London pre-launch event at the Armitage Pro store here in Chicago. Hopefully, I will get to lurk around on Armitage before the event. There are some wonderful stores in that area of Lincoln Park like BCBG, Benefit (It's soo cute and pink!), Anthropologie, LUSH, Kiehl's, and some really great smaller designer boutiques. And yes, I'm talking about the infamous OPI Lincoln Park :)



Look at how gorgeous the card invite looks! It makes me even more excited to see what the product packaging looks like. I don't think they will be sticker designs. At least they better not be, or else I'm going to be pretty upset! lol. I was laughing at how cheesy the writing was!

Unfortunately, I do not have a working camera at the moment. I'm really hoping that I can borrow one for tomorrow so I can put up some swatches for you guys. *Crosses fingers*

I'm especially looking forward to checking out Bough Grey eyeshadow (greyish green) and Ever Hip lipstick (light creamy coral). Plus, cocktails and canapes sound EXCELLENT too! :)
